The monthly car boot sale in Woodley will resume this weekend with a new operator at the helm.

Ray Wingrove, of Wingrove Nurseries in Reading, has agreed to take over the reins at the popular town centre attraction and will commence his duties as operator this Sunday.

Town centre bosses were left searching for a new organiser after the previous operator, the League of Friends of the Royal Berkshire Hospital, decided to withdraw its support last year in order to focus its fundraising efforts elsewhere. However, Mr Wingrove, who is no stranger to the Crockhamwell Road shopping precinct having run a market stall in the town for many years, has agreed to take on the position for 2010.

Jacques Lherbier, town centre manager, is confident the pair can work together to create what he describes as a family event. He hopes the car boot, which is held on the last Sunday of the month, from 8am to 12.30pm, can attract children’s entertainment and refreshment stalls.

Admission to the sale is £10 per car and £7 per tabletop.

For more information call Mr Lherbier on 07506 741591.
